The first edition of the AWS UnicornSports League, in association with YourStory and Playo, is an amazing opportunity for sports enthusiasts from startups and techies to have fun while indulging in some healthy competition. With the recent launch of the #FitIndia movement for a healthier India announced by Narendra Modi, this is perfectly timed to get more people off the couch. This will also present an opportunity for startups to meet peers at other startups and build a strong ecosystem inBangalore.
So whether you’re a founder / CXO, a tech team member at a startup or someone who loves to cheer your colleagues, you can be a part of AWS Unicorn Sports League.
The 2 main sports are:
Box Cricket 6 on 6
This shorter, quicker and action-filled version of cricket will be played on artificial turf with six players on each side.
Football 5 on 5
Football matches will also be played on artificial turf with five players on each side. Truly Joga Bonita!
Player scan be common for both if you are unable to find unique players for each sport.
The league matches start at 10 am on Friday which will be followed by aQuarter Final, Semi-Final and Finals on the same day. We have an after-party scheduled after the prize ceremony. The Reporting Time for teams is 9 am
The executive sponsor will be the face of the team and will act as the Team Mentor and help promote the teams. The executive sponsor can also act as one of the players, team coach if he wants to get more deeply involved.
While we would love for the CXO sponsor/mentor to participate in the matches, we understand their limitations on time. But we would like them to be present at the Finals and after-party.
We have snacks, lunchand water planned for the teams throughout the day to keep them energised andhydrated.
The finals will take place at around 5 pm followed by the prize ceremony. We also have a mixer planned after the finals/prize ceremony where you will get a chance to meetCXOs from the other teams and network over dinner and drinks.
